BRP Sarangani formally commissioned into Philippine Coast Guard service

MANILA – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has formally commissioned BRP Sarangani (6177), a 61-meter vessel from Taiwan, adding another ship to its fleet as the agency continues to strengthen its maritime capabilities.

The commissioning of BRP Sarangani was announced on Oct. 6, marking its official entry into PCG service.

The new vessel is expected to bolster the Coast Guard’s ability to conduct maritime patrols, search and rescue operations, maritime law enforcement, and other missions aimed at protecting Philippine waters.

The addition comes as the PCG continues to expand and modernize its fleet amid growing demands for maritime security, safety, and monitoring across the country’s vast territorial waters and exclusive economic zone.

Further details on the vessel’s specifications, acquisition, and deployment were not provided in the announcement shown.
