The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) has rolled out a mobile banking unit aimed at bringing financial services directly to communities, starting in Naga City, Camarines Sur.
The initiative, launched to mark BPI’s 175th year, allows residents and small business owners to access banking services without visiting a physical branch. The mobile unit is housed in a fully equipped bus and functions as a one-stop financial hub.
Inside the bus, customers can open digital and regular savings accounts, register for BPI’s e-wallet VYBE, and apply for card, insurance, and loan products. The service aims to simplify processes and make financial services more accessible, particularly for underserved and unbanked populations.
Maria Cristina Go, BPI’s head of consumer banking, said the mobile unit is designed to lower barriers and help people start their financial journey with confidence.
The program also supports financial literacy efforts. Through its microfinance arm BanKo, BPI provides financial wellness sessions for local government employees in Naga City, offering practical tools for money management.
BPI acknowledged the support of local leaders, including Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo, noting that collaboration with communities is key to advancing inclusive economic growth.
The bank plans to expand the BPI On-The-Move program to more cities and municipalities in 2026, combining financial education with on-ground banking services to strengthen engagement and support nationwide financial inclusion.
