Police arrested early Tuesday a Department of Public Works and Highways cashier linked to the alleged P92.8-million ghost flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan that also implicates former senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr.
Christina Mae del Rosario Pineda, 38, of the DPWH Bulacan First District Engineering Office, was taken into custody shortly after midnight in Barangay Bangao, Buguias, Benguet, authorities said.
The arrest was carried out by operatives of the Philippine National Police–Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) and the Benguet Police Provincial Office.
Pineda is among seven individuals ordered arrested by the Sandiganbayan Third Division for malversation in connection with the questioned flood control project, after the anti-graft court issued warrants and hold departure orders on Monday.
The warrant, signed by Associate Justice Karl Miranda, did not recommend bail for the accused, including Revilla.
Also named in the case were several former officials of the DPWH Bulacan First District Engineering Office, including engineers and finance officers involved in the project.
Revilla surrendered to the PNP-CIDG at Camp Crame on Monday night, while other co-accused were separately apprehended by law enforcement agencies.
