The Bureau of Customs (BOC) convened a coordination meeting with government agencies and industry stakeholders to discuss operations at the Manila International Container Port and the Port of Manila.
The meeting was led by Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno and was attended by senior Customs officials, district collectors, and representatives from port operators and maritime organizations.
According to the bureau, the discussion focused on maintaining operational efficiency and preparing for future capacity requirements through coordination among concerned parties.
Officials exchanged views on planning and forecasting, as well as preparations for different operational scenarios that could affect cargo movement, particularly during high-volume periods.
Customs authorities also presented updates on yard utilization levels at both ports, providing an overview of current conditions and operational constraints.
The meeting covered the implementation of customs procedures, including cargo release processes and the application of dwell time rules, with the aim of ensuring consistency across operations.
Participants from the private sector indicated their willingness to continue engaging with government agencies and emphasized the importance of regular communication and information-sharing.
The BOC said it would continue to engage stakeholders as part of broader efforts to improve port operations and support trade facilitation.
