BJMP Mimaropa celebrates 23rd Anniversary with tree planting activity

The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Mimaropa celebrated its 23rd founding anniversary on Thursday with a region-wide simultaneous tree planting activity, themed “Matatag na Serbisyo, Patnubay sa Tunay na Pagbabago” (Stable Service, Guidance for Real Change).

The initiative took place across jail facilities in Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan, involving the participation of jail personnel, partner agencies, local government units, and civic organizations.

BJMP Mimaropa Regional Information Officer Jail Officer 3 Joefrie Anglo emphasized that the initiative symbolizes the bureau’s dual mission of rehabilitation and environmental protection. “Just as we plant trees today for a greener tomorrow, we also strive to plant the seeds of change in the lives of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs). This anniversary is a reminder of our duty to serve with resilience and to guide those under our care toward true reform,” Anglo stated.

Hundreds of fruit-bearing and indigenous tree seedlings were planted in collaboration with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), local officials, and volunteers.

BJMP Mimaropa highlighted that the anniversary celebration serves as a call for unity in sustaining programs that promote public safety, strengthen correctional services, and support nation-building. This initiative reflects the bureau’s commitment to fostering a safer and more rehabilitative environment for all.
