Police in Bicol seized PHP2.2 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested 23 suspects during operations conducted from July 14 to 20. Brig. Gen. Nestor Babagay Jr., Director of the Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5), reported on Tuesday that 24 anti-illegal drug operations resulted in the confiscation of 326.85 grams of shabu and three grams of marijuana.
Camarines Sur recorded the largest drug seizure, amounting to PHP1.33 million, followed by Albay with PHP152,524, Masbate with PHP115,668, Camarines Norte with PHP63,049.60, and Sorsogon with PHP1,020. Catanduanes reported no drug seizures during this period, while Naga City saw about PHP559,300 worth of illegal drugs confiscated.
“We will further intensify our operations and strengthen our collaboration with stakeholders to ensure safer, healthier, and drug-free communities for the people of Bicol. Together, we can achieve a region free from the scourge of illegal drugs,” Babagay stated.
