The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in Bicol said it will sustain and intensify national ID registration this year, focusing on unregistered residents, children aged zero to four, geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas, and institutional populations.
From 2021 to 2025, about 5.29 million Bicolanos enrolled in the Philippine Identification System, equivalent to roughly 87 percent of the region’s population, the agency reported on Thursday.
Camarines Sur and Albay recorded the highest number of registrants at around 1.6 million and 1.1 million, respectively, making them the only provinces in the region to exceed one million enrollees.
Masbate followed with about 875,000 registrations, while Sorsogon logged 743,000 and Camarines Norte 554,000. Catanduanes posted the lowest figure at around 268,000.
The PSA also cited gains in early childhood coverage, with approximately 117,200 children aged zero to four registered. Camarines Sur led this group, followed by Masbate and Albay.
In terms of ID issuance, PSA-Bicol said 2.06 million PhilSys records were released in paper format, while about 3.11 million national ID cards were delivered through the Philippine Postal Corporation.
Camarines Sur accounted for the most delivered IDs, followed by Albay and Sorsogon, as the agency continued coordinating with local governments and deploying mobile registration teams to expand access to the national ID system.
