LEGAZPI CITY — More than 1,700 job opportunities will be opened to applicants in Bicol during a Labor Day job fair scheduled on May 1 at a mall in this city.

The Department of Labor and Employment in the region said the activity aimed to widen access to employment and related government services.

Regional Director Imelda Gatinao said 20 employers were expected to participate, offering a mix of local and overseas positions.

She said the vacancies included 1,172 jobs within the country and 555 opportunities abroad.

A one stop shop would also be set up at the venue, with several government agencies providing services to job seekers.

These include assistance for clearances, identification documents, and other requirements needed for employment applications.

Gatinao said applicants were encouraged to prepare multiple copies of their résumés, bring valid identification cards, and complete online registration ahead of the event.

Some job seekers said the fair would help them secure employment to support their families and meet rising expenses, while others viewed it as a chance to start earning and gain independence.

The regional office added that the Labor Day activity was intended to connect workers to opportunities and promote livelihood and employment across Bicol.
