Bella Belen misses day 1 of PVL rookie draft combine due to schedule conflict

Bella Belen, one of the most highly anticipated applicants in the PVL Rookie Draft 2025, was notably absent on Day 1 of the Combine held Friday at Paco Arena.

The three-time UAAP MVP and champion from National University had a schedule conflict as she traveled to Laoag, Ilocos Norte, to support NU Nazareth at the 2025 Palarong Pambansa. Despite her absence, PVL Commissioner Sherwin Malonzo expects her to attend the second day of the event.

“Si Bella naman, kausap ko ‘yung I think manager niya. She’s arriving daw tomorrow. We’re expecting her to drop by tomorrow,” said Malonzo.
“Actually, balak ata humabol ngayon pero sabi ko baka matapos na by 4 [p.m.]. Mas maganda sana kung kaninang umaga or ‘yun nga tomorrow na,” he added.

Belen, 22, has yet to confirm whether she will pursue a professional career in the PVL or explore other options, including opportunities abroad.

Meanwhile, several standout athletes were present on Day 1, including Fil-American setter Tia Andaya, who also trains with Alas Pilipinas. Other notable attendees were Ateneo’s AC Miner and Lyann de Guzman; NU’s Erin Pangilinan and Sheena Toring; La Salle’s Alleiah Malaluan, Jyne Soreño, Jules Tolentino, and Jessa Ordiales; and FEU’s Chenie Tagaod and Jean Asis.
