Bea de Leon played a crucial role in Creamline’s quarterfinal sweep of Chery Tiggo, using her defensive prowess to help the team advance to the PVL All-Filipino Conference semifinals.
The middle blocker delivered five kill blocks in both games of the best-of-three series. In Game 2, she shined with 14 points, earning Player of the Game honors at Ynares Center on Saturday.
De Leon attributed her performance to the team’s structured training under coach Sherwin Meneses.
“Meron din naman po talaga kaming training for that [blocking]. Sa sistema lang din po ako naka-base. Effective naman din siya, I really trust coach Sherwin’s system,” she said.
Rather than focusing on scoring, De Leon emphasized her role in defense.
“Super bonus talaga ‘yung pumupuntos siya [blocks], but really, what I look for is ‘yung tamang tapat, para matulungan ‘yung depensa, kung ma-check ball maganda rin.”
Creamline’s Winning Culture
Creamline’s dominance continues as they enter the PVL semifinals for the 17th time since joining the league in 2017, having always secured at least a bronze medal.
De Leon credited the team’s consistent success to its winning culture and strong leadership.
“For me, ‘yung culture din po talaga. ‘Yung mindset po ng bawat isa from the leaders to everybody on the team. Sa coaches po, talagang there’s always more to learn, and we really try to give our best everyday, kahit pagod, kahit mahirap.”
With their well-established system and determination, Creamline remains a top contender for the championship.
