Super Typhoon Bavi may enhance the southwest monsoon and bring rains over several parts of the country as it moves closer to the Philippine area of responsibility, Pagasa said Tuesday.
The weather bureau said Bavi could draw in Habagat in the coming days, affecting the northern and western sections of the country.
Based on Pagasa’s latest track, Bavi was last located 2,010 kilometers east of Central Luzon and was moving west northwest at 30 kilometers per hour.
The super typhoon was packing maximum sustained winds of 195 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 240 kilometers per hour.
Pagasa said Bavi may enter PAR by Tuesday evening or early Wednesday and will be named Inday once inside the country’s monitoring area.
The agency added that Bavi has a low chance of making landfall but may pass close to Batanes as it moves toward the area east of Taiwan.
Additionally, tropical cyclone wind signals may still be raised over the northern and eastern portions of Northern Luzon by Tuesday evening or early Wednesday, while gale warnings may be issued over the northern and eastern seaboards due to rough to very rough seas.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers from localized thunderstorms, while Habagat may bring rains over the western portions of the Visayas and Mindanao until Thursday.
