Bangsamoro Member of Parliament-elect Zulfikar-Ali “Sol” Sergio Bayam has expressed appreciation for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., citing what he described as the President’s longstanding commitment to peace, unity, and development in the Bangsamoro region.
In a statement accompanied by old photographs with Marcos, Bayam recalled witnessing the President’s efforts as early as 2017 to pursue an inclusive and lasting solution to the decades-long conflict in Mindanao.
Bayam said he had personally observed Marcos’ intentions toward the Moro people even before he became President, despite skepticism surrounding his political ambitions at the time.
He noted that while some had questioned Marcos’ commitment to the Bangsamoro, his own experiences had given him a different perspective.
Bayam also highlighted the President’s support for the Bangsamoro’s first regular parliamentary election and his attendance at the inauguration of the First Regular Bangsamoro Parliament.
According to Bayam, these actions demonstrated the administration’s commitment to strengthening democratic institutions and advancing peace and development in the region.
“From the very beginning, until today, PBBM has always had the back of the Bangsamoro people,” Bayam said.
He added that his assessment was based on years of personally witnessing Marcos’ actions and engagement with Bangsamoro leaders.
Bayam described the President’s continued involvement in Bangsamoro affairs as an important contribution to the region’s pursuit of lasting peace, political stability, and economic progress.
