Bago City, Negros Occidental has been recognized as one of the global winners in the prestigious 2025 Green Destinations Stories Awards for its Regenerative Agritourism Program.
Launched in 2018, the program aims to empower farmers as agripreneurs, fostering sustainable agricultural practices while boosting local tourism. As a result, the city saw a significant increase in tourist arrivals, from 127,000 in 2021 to 199,047 in 2023.
Beyond sustainable tourism, Bago City has been actively engaged in environmental programs, earning recognition as one of the country’s top Creative Tourism Destinations during the 1st Philippine Creative Tourism Congress in December 2023.
This latest award highlights Bago City’s commitment to sustainable development, making it a model destination for eco-friendly tourism and community-driven innovation.
