TABUK CITY, Kalinga — Law enforcement authorities dismantled multiple marijuana plantations in the municipality of Tinglayan, uprooting an estimated ₱16.3 million worth of marijuana plants during coordinated anti-illegal drug operations on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.
According to the Kalinga Police Provincial Office (KPPO), the operations were conducted across several barangays and resulted in the destruction of approximately 81,500 marijuana plants cultivated over a combined area of about 5,200 square meters.
Breakdown of the seized plants showed the largest number coming from Barangay Loccong, where authorities removed around 52,000 plants valued at ₱10.4 million. In Barangay Buscalan, about 5,000 plants worth ₱1 million were destroyed. Other affected areas included Barangay Butbut Proper with 8,000 plants valued at ₱1.6 million, Barangay Ngibat with 6,000 plants worth ₱1.2 million, and Barangay Tulgao East, where 10,500 plants valued at ₱2.1 million were eradicated.
Police said no individuals were apprehended during the operations as the plantation sites were found abandoned at the time of the raids.
The campaign was carried out jointly by the KPPO, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), and other law enforcement units under OPLAN “MAGINAM 01-01/2026” and OPLAN “GREEN GOLD 4,” as part of the nationwide Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operation.
KPPO officials reiterated their commitment to sustaining the government’s anti-illegal drugs drive, emphasizing that intensified eradication efforts will continue to disrupt the supply of illegal drugs and protect communities.
“These operations reflect our unwavering resolve to curb illegal drug activities and uphold public safety, in line with the vision of a ‘Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman,’” the KPPO said.
