SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, ANTIQUE — The provincial government of Antique launched an exhibit aimed at raising public awareness on the protection and conservation of caves.
The initiative, organized by the Office of the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer, marked the start of this year’s Cave Month celebration.
Officials said the display, set up at the New Capitol lobby, featured photographs of various cave sites across the province.
They added that the exhibit would run for about a week before being transferred to a mall to reach a wider audience.
Informational materials such as brochures were also made available to help educate visitors about cave ecosystems and their importance.
Among the sites highlighted were caves located in the towns of San Remigio, Patnongon, Libertad, and Valderrama.
One of the more popular sites, Igbaclag Cave, remained closed to visitors to allow its natural environment to recover after sustaining damage.
Local authorities said conservation efforts continue despite scaled-down activities this year, urging the public to help protect caves by avoiding vandalism, littering, and disturbance of wildlife.
