Petro Gazz, riding a four-game winning streak, looks to extend its momentum when it faces Chery Tiggo in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference today at the Philsports Arena.
The Angels, 5-1 with 15 points, currently top the standings, having finished the first half of the schedule with a dominant sweep of the previously unbeaten Cignal HD Spikers on Dec. 14.
Despite their strong position, they face stiff competition, with seven teams closely chasing them.
Chery Tiggo, at 4-2 with 10 points, is eager to climb higher in the standings.
The Crossovers, led by Brooke Van Sickle, Myla Pablo, and MJ Phillips, have strengthened their roster with former Cool Smasher Risa Sato, a veteran middle blocker expected to add depth and versatility to their lineup.
“We used the break to focus on strength and conditioning,” said Chery Tiggo coach Norman Miguel. “Players kept up their routines and submitted video updates to our coaches for accountability.”
Meanwhile, Cignal looks to bounce back from its first loss when it faces Galeries Tower at 1:30 p.m. Capital1 will challenge Creamline at 4 p.m. as the Cool Smashers aim for their fifth straight win.
The Solar Spikers (1-4) are in a tough spot, while the HD Spikers, now second in the standings, are adjusting after the departures of Ces Molina and Riri Meneses. Despite their record, Galeries Tower aims to take advantage of Cignal’s depleted roster.
