VMX star Angelica Cervantes is drawing a hard line when it comes to filming intimate scenes, making it crystal clear that just because she appears in daring projects does not mean anyone has the right to cross her boundaries.
At the media conference for the film All About Her on March 12, the actress opened up about the uncomfortable and sometimes disturbing experiences she has faced while working in sensual roles. Angelica revealed that there were moments when she felt disrespected by co-actors during love scenes, prompting her to impose even stricter personal rules on set.
According to Angelica, her management has been protective of her, and she is quick to report anything that feels inappropriate. She said she has learned to stand her ground after going through incidents that left a lasting impact on her. What began as caution has now become a non-negotiable set of restrictions designed to protect herself while doing her job.
One boundary, in particular, is absolutely off-limits. Angelica stressed that no one is allowed to touch her breasts, and any suggestion of kissing that part of her body is immediately rejected. For the actress, this is not about being difficult. It is about reclaiming control and preventing situations that could leave her feeling violated all over again.
She admitted that the experience left her traumatized, and since then, she has made it a point to be vocal about what is and is not allowed. If a project cannot respect those limits, she would rather walk away than put herself in a situation that makes her uncomfortable.
Angelica also slammed the public for assuming that being a VMX actress makes her fair game for disrespect. She said many people seem to think that because she stars in sexy films, co-stars and even strangers in public are somehow entitled to treat her differently. For her, that mindset is exactly the problem.
She underscored that she and other VMX performers are still actors simply doing their work, and their roles on screen should never be used as an excuse to demean them in real life. Angelica said there is a huge difference between what viewers see in movies and who she is as a person off-camera, which is why she continues to speak up in interviews whenever she gets the chance.
The actress also reflected on the stigma that continues to follow VMX stars, saying the judgment is not unique to her. She pointed out that many performers from the platform face instant labeling, even when they attempt to break into mainstream entertainment. Angelica noted that stars like Robb Guinto and Angeli Khang have also had to deal with people reducing them to their bold-screen image.
What frustrates her most, she said, is the double standard. She questioned why sexy stars from previous generations were able to transition into respected acting careers, while today’s performers are still often met with ridicule and malice. For Angelica, the difference is not the talent but the mindset of the public.
She also could not hide her irritation over the hypocrisy of critics who shame VMX stars while secretly consuming the very content they attack. To her, that contradiction says more about the audience than the actresses themselves.
Despite the noise, Angelica remains hopeful that she, too, can eventually cross over into the mainstream. She hinted that she may now be entering a different phase in her career, saying it could be time to tone things down and step away from nude roles for a while.
Angelica has appeared in several VMX titles through the years, including Silab, Eva, Wag Mong Agawin Ang Akin, Biyak, An Affair to Forget, Kaliwaan, Home Service, Haslers, Kaskasero, and Obsesyon. In All About Her, she stars alongside Yuki Sonoda, Kelley Day, Tony Labrusca, Pancho Magno, Jim Pebanco, Itan Rosales, and Marco Gomez under the direction of Joel Lamangan.
