Rescuers retrieved another victim from the wreckage of a collapsed nine-story building in Barangay Balibago early Wednesday, pushing the death toll to 22.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the body was pulled out at around 7:21 a.m. after hours of continuous search and recovery work at the site.
Responders earlier detected the victim at about 4:04 a.m. in Quadrant 2, prompting a targeted retrieval operation in the area.
Crews spent more than three hours clearing heavy debris before finally accessing and recovering the remains.
The latest recovery came just a day after six more bodies, including an infant, were pulled from the rubble as operations intensified.
Authorities continued clearing operations and expanding access routes as they searched for possible remaining victims still trapped beneath the debris.
The under-construction building collapsed before dawn on May 24, trapping workers and others in and around the structure.
Officials have yet to release the identity of the latest casualty as verification continues, while investigators are still determining the cause of the collapse.
