The northeast monsoon or “amihan” will continue to affect extreme northern Luzon on Sunday, while easterlies will prevail over the rest of the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
The agency said the shear line will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Cagayan and Isabela.
The weather bureau noted that rainfall in these areas may be moderate to occasionally heavy based on its 4 a.m. advisory.
Batanes will also experience cloudy skies with rains as the northeast monsoon remains active over the province.
Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected over the Visayas, MIMAROPA, the Bicol Region, Aurora, Quezon, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Davao Oriental due to the easterlies.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by the same weather system.
PAGASA said residents are advised to stay alert during thunderstorms, particularly in areas prone to flooding or landslides.
Extreme northern Luzon will have strong winds blowing northeast with rough coastal waters, according to the forecast.
The rest of Luzon will experience moderate to strong winds with moderate to rough seas.
Elsewhere in the country, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate coastal waters, while no tropical cyclone is being monitored within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
