Clear to partly cloudy conditions were forecast across a wide portion of the country on Tuesday, despite the ongoing influence of the northeast monsoon or “amihan” and the easterlies, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
In its 5 a.m. weather bulletin, the state weather bureau reported that satellite images showed minimal cloud cover over much of the Philippine landmass.
The agency said observations indicated generally fair weather in many areas, with only limited cloud formations visible during early monitoring.
Pagasa noted, however, that the northeast monsoon continued to affect Northern Luzon, particularly Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera Administrative Region, and the Ilocos Region.
These regions were expected to see partly cloudy to cloudy skies along with chances of isolated light rains brought by the monsoon.
The agency also said the amihan may strengthen in the next few days, which could lead to cooler conditions and less significant rainfall over Luzon.
From Wednesday until Friday, much of Luzon was likely to experience mostly light rains as the monsoon’s effects intensify, according to Pagasa.
Meanwhile, the easterlies were expected to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country, with possible flooding and landslides in affected areas.
