Parts of Luzon and Mindanao were expected to experience cloudy skies and light rain on Thursday due to two weather systems affecting the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

In its morning forecast, Pagasa said the northeast monsoon, locally called amihan, and the easterlies continue to influence weather conditions across the Philippines.

Pagasa weather specialist Chenel Dominguez said the amihan was bringing cloudy skies with light rain over Batanes, Apayao and Cagayan.

She added that Ilocos Norte was likely to see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rain, still due to the northeast monsoon.

Meanwhile, the easterlies were expected to cause scattered rain showers over Surigao del Sur, Davao de Oro and Davao Oriental.

The rest of the country was forecast to have generally fair weather, although warm and humid conditions were expected from noon until the afternoon.

Pagasa said isolated rain showers or localized thunderstorms could still develop later in the day in some areas.

The weather bureau also reported that no low pressure area or tropical disturbance had been monitored within or outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), and no gale warning had been raised over any of the country’s seaboards.
