The northeast monsoon continues to bring cooler temperatures across most parts of the country on Sunday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

The weather bureau said the amihan had been affecting a large portion of the country, resulting in lower temperatures and generally cooler conditions in many areas.

In Metro Manila, Pagasa reported that temperatures were expected to range from 19 degrees Celsius to 29 degrees Celsius throughout the day.

Baguio City, which recorded its coldest temperature so far this year on Saturday, was forecast to experience temperatures between 10 degrees Celsius and 22 degrees Celsius.

Pagasa also reported that light rains were likely in parts of Luzon, particularly in the Bicol Region, Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Northern Samar and Eastern Samar.

Isolated light rains were also expected in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, as well as in the Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Caraga and the Zamboanga Peninsula.

Strong winds associated with the monsoon were forecast in Northern Luzon and the eastern portions of Central and Southern Luzon, while moderate to strong winds may affect the rest of Luzon, the Visayas and the eastern section of Mindanao.

Pagasa said the cooler weather was likely to persist for the next few days as the northeast monsoon continues to influence weather conditions across large parts of the country.
