Alibaba Cloud has been named a leader in the Omdia Market Radar: Global Enterprise-Level MaaS Market Analysis, 2025, marking another milestone in the company’s push to make enterprise AI scalable, practical, and production-ready.
The recognition highlights Alibaba Cloud’s growing role in helping organizations move beyond AI experimentation toward real-world deployment, where models, infrastructure, and applications must work seamlessly together.
The report underscores the rapid maturation of Model as a Service, or MaaS, a concept Alibaba Cloud first introduced to the industry in 2022. Rather than focusing solely on access to AI models, enterprise-grade MaaS is now defined as a cloud-native service that enables companies to customize, orchestrate, and deploy foundation models across the entire application lifecycle.
In this evolving landscape, enterprises are increasingly looking for platforms that can deliver reliability, cost efficiency, and governance alongside raw AI capability.
Omdia’s new lifecycle-based evaluation framework assessed vendors across nine core enterprise MaaS capabilities. Alibaba Cloud was rated “advanced” in five of them, including foundation model variety, model customization and tuning, AI agent development and scheduling, cost optimization strategies, and production deployment approaches.
The assessment positions Alibaba Cloud as one of the most comprehensive providers in a market that is shifting quickly from MaaS 1.0, centered on simple API calls, to MaaS 2.0, where end-to-end AI application development is the baseline expectation.
Jingren Zhou, chief technology officer of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence, said the recognition reflects the company’s long-term focus on enterprise adoption at scale. He noted that as AI moves deeper into production environments, organizations need more than powerful models.
They need platforms, infrastructure, and management tools that allow them to build and run AI systems with confidence, security, and operational clarity.
What sets Alibaba Cloud apart in the report is its positioning as a full-stack AI service provider. Unlike pure model developers such as OpenAI or infrastructure-focused hyperscalers like Amazon Web Services, Alibaba Cloud integrates its proprietary Qwen models directly with its PAI computing infrastructure and Model Studio application platform. This vertical integration allows enterprises to develop, customize, and deploy AI applications within a single, unified environment.
Model Studio serves as the front door for enterprise AI implementation, simplifying complex model calls into standardized services. It offers visualized tools for retrieval-augmented generation and agent orchestration, while also introducing the Agent Store, which provides more than a hundred ready-to-use, industry-specific intelligent agents.
These capabilities are designed to reduce development friction and accelerate time to value for enterprises exploring AI-driven workflows.
The platform now provides access to more than 200 industry-leading models, including Alibaba Cloud’s self-developed Qwen and Wan models. As of September 2025, more than one million enterprise and individual users have leveraged Qwen on Model Studio to build AI applications, with over 800,000 agents created to support use cases ranging from content creation and intelligent marketing to smart home management and production optimization.
The MaaS leadership recognition follows another strong endorsement earlier this year, when Alibaba Cloud was named a market leader in Omdia’s Market Radar: GenAI Cloud Titans in Asia & Oceania 2025.
Taken together, the reports point to a broader shift in the enterprise AI market, where demand is increasingly centered on integrated, full-lifecycle platforms capable of turning AI ambition into operational reality.
