Algerian authorities brought 127 of 146 wildfires under control within 24 hours, while crews continued battling 19 active blazes across the country.
Civil protection officials said firefighters were working with army units, forestry personnel, local authorities and volunteers to stop the remaining fires from spreading.
The country had faced an intense wave of forest and brush fires for nearly two weeks as high temperatures worsened conditions.
Since July 1, civil defense teams responded to about 1,460 wildfires and extinguished roughly 85 to 90 percent of them.
Authorities recorded 3,719 fires from May 1, compared with 1,501 during the same period last year.
The increase showed a sharp rise in wildfire incidents as heat and dry conditions affected large parts of Algeria.
Government figures indicated that more than 1,666 hectares of vegetation were damaged, including forests, scrubland, alfa grass, fruit trees and mountain crops.
Firefighting teams continued using aerial and ground resources to protect communities and contain the remaining blazes.
