Filipina tennis sensation, Alexandra ‘Alex’ Eala, is currently preparing for a busy North American hard-court swing which will conclude with the United States Open in New York.
While she may have recently enthused that grass is her strongest surface, Eala will be eager to enjoy similar success on the hard court.
The country’s pride turns first to the Washington Open in D. C., followed by events in Toronto and Cincinnati before this year’s final Grand Slam in New York City.
There is one of three reasons why the 21-year-old Eala should feel confident of a longer stay in the US Open this time around—she enjoyed a positive start in reaching the second round on debut by stunning Danish 14th seed Clara Tauson before falling to Moldova ace Cristina Bucsa.
But entering the US Open now, Eala is actually much more of a ‘dark horse’ than a favorite, which should allow her to focus on her play and avoid the limelight—as much as that is possible given her popularity.
In that light, she is expected to draw huge support once more when she travels to Flushing Meadows for the US Open. Her fans always turn up in droves every time she hits the court.
