As part of the team buildup of Alas Pilipinas, Petro Gazz ace Brooke Van Sickle and National University star Alyssa Solomon are set to join the team’s preparations following the respective breaks of both athletes.
According to Alas Pilipinas head coach Jorge Souza de Brito, he anticipates Van Sickle and Solomon to join the national squad’s buildup for the upcoming national team window as soon as their respective recovery and rest periods are over.
“Yes, (they are expected to join training). There are still a few guys on their breaks after the UAAP and the AVC. Both (Van Sickle and Solomon) are still on their breaks,” the Brazilian coach cited in a text message.UAAP sports apparel
The 6-foot-2 Solomon comes off a gruelling final year with the National University, where she played a key role in leading the Lady Bulldogs to back-to-back UAAP championships, sweeping La Salle in the Season 87 Women’s Volleyball Tournament finale.
On the other hand, Van Sickle, the reigning Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference MVP, who starred in the 2025 AVC Women’s Champions League last month and helped propel the Angels to a quarterfinal finish, is still out of the country.
Alas Pilipinas is expected to first see action in the AVC Women’s Nations Cup, scheduled from June 7 to 14 in Hanoi, Vietnam, after which the national team will then participate in the Southeast Asian V-League from late July to early August.
