The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Tuesday cautioned the public about a bogus YouTube account posing as AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr. and circulating AI-generated videos.

In an advisory issued Tuesday night, the AFP said the materials were fabricated and released without authorization.

“These contents are unauthorized, digitally manipulated and intended to mislead,” the AFP said.

Military officials said the use of artificial intelligence to impersonate senior leaders poses serious risks to public trust.

The AFP said it strongly denounces the creation and spread of deepfake content aimed at deceiving the public.

It warned those behind such activities that they could face legal consequences.

Screenshots shared by the AFP showed that the fake channel, using the name “Gen. Brawner Jr,” had amassed more than 2,000 subscribers.

By the time the advisory was released, the channel was no longer visible through routine searches on YouTube.

The AFP urged the public to verify information only through its official platforms and statements.

It also encouraged internet users to report suspicious accounts that impersonate military officials or institutions.
