A civic group on Tuesday called on Batangas Rep. Leandro Leviste to release all documents linked to the late Public Works Undersecretary Maria Catalina Cabral.

The appeal came during a Rizal Day protest organized by the Taumbayan Ayaw sa Magnanakaw at Abusado Network Alliance (Tama Na).

Prof. David Michael San Juan, coalition convenor, said the files should be publicized so they could serve as evidence to hold alleged corrupt officials accountable.

“All the files related to corruption held by the congressman—those held by Leviste, if he indeed has them—should be released in full so we can review and examine them,” San Juan said in Filipino.

Leviste had previously released only partial documents detailing the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) budget allocations from 2023 to 2026 by region, district, and province.

San Juan also urged government authorities to secure Cabral’s files to uncover corruption tied to flood control projects.

“The government should secure the Cabral files and all documents, evidence related to the corruption in this flood control, all of that should be obtained because the people deserve the whole truth,” he said in Filipino.

The DPWH turned over Cabral’s computer and files to the Office of the Ombudsman on December 23 for digital forensic examination, five days after her death in Benguet.

The handed-over materials reportedly included a decade’s worth of documents, such as requests for consideration in the programming of the National Expenditure Program (NEP).
