A bloodbath the Philippine Red Cross will never support

A magazine-style image featuring a circular portrait of a man with dark hair and a striped shirt. The headline reads 'SLEEPLESS IN MY SHUTTLE' with the author's name, 'LESLIE BOCOMO,' below it. The background has a textured, crumpled paper effect.

Sara Duterte is indeed the daughter of her father. At a time when our nation is witness to other nations at war while other nations are threatening wars, we need a leader politically mature enough to fight for peace and keep the peace.

Unlike her father Rodrigo Duterte who launched what many believed was a bogus war on drugs allegedly to favor his Chinese-Filipino cronies, both father and daughter would rather wage bloody wars against their enemies – perceived stumbling blocks to their throne.

So now Sara wants a bloodbath while intimidating her political foes into surrendering selves under a Senate acquittal.

Another special lawyer child would be that from Harry Roque who recently said “We expect the impeachment in the Senate impeachment court to be dead on arrival with the new composition of lawmakers comprising the august body.” In short, from the myopic point of view of Roque, the “Senate impeachment is doomed.”

As I write this, news is blaring from the Department of Justice that Roque is a holder of two more passports – making that three total. Immediately, the human rights lawyer-turned fugitive is saying that such a claim by the DOJ is nothing but fake news. Talk about someone who insists that the polvoron video is authentic even as the whole world now knows that it is a fake video.

But that’s not all from the rumor mill. Now comes Bato dela Rosa who, as explained accurately by a netizen, has already voted to acquit VP Sara Duterte, but it’s just not done on paper yet.

Matter of fact, when asked if Sara has already the required nine votes to acquit her, he replied, “Baka sobra pa!” For this, dela Rosa must inhibit himself as senator-judge as such utterances are grounds for recusal. Bato himself is a named figure in Duterte’s (bogus) drug war.

No less than the inmate from Davao has claimed that Bato is a member of the Davao Death Squad (DDS). Here lies the trouble when one fails to manage influence and power. Bato dela Rosa is a living example of a failure to be humble when one is catapulted to a high position.

As such, while 50% of Filipinos are against the filing of impeachment against Sara Duterte, perhaps the other 50% are for it. So while this may look like a tie, it’s only stupid for one to say that the impeachment is already doomed.

Perhaps your career as a lawyer is. Sara Duterte must be out of her mind to want a bloodbath.

This is definitely a bloodbath the Philippine Red Cross will never support.

Calling for the resignation of the President?

Methinks former Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque has gone bonkers on insisting that President Marcos Jr. resign from office so that VP Sara Duterte would take over immediately.

First of all, he must face his accusers and appear in court to defend himself, and the only way he can do this is to return to the country. That is the real issue to all his antics if only to divert attention away from his cases.

If you recall, Roque is linked to two Pampanga POGO firms as his clients. And during the congressional hearing he was cited in contempt and was subjected to a 24-hour detention for allegedly lying before the House Committee.

He attended the hearing a second time where he was cited again for contempt for failure to submit financial documents he was directed to furnish. He then said that the requested documents were not related to POGOs and instead dared the committee to file charges against him in court. He was declared on the run.

Today, while still on the run in the Netherlands, Harry Roque has resorted to silly behavior to the point of making a clown of himself with his hideous choreography.

I would rather he stick his finger inside a hole in some Dutch dike (pun unintended) and rewrite a famous story of that heroic little Dutch boy and be a Filipino hero and not some fugitive who thinks so highly of himself and has the gall to say he will “never forgive the Marcoses.”

What have they done to solicit so much anger from this “Christian”?

Arnie Teves is back and Harry Roque should start packing

Our gratitude to the PM Xanana Gusmao for the return of fugitive Arnolfo ‘Arnie’ Teves Jr. to the country where he will face trial, following his deportation from Timor-Leste where he too is seeking asylum.

The ex-congressman is facing charges for murder, frustrated murder, and attempted murder over the alleged killing of the late Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo, a known political rival of Teves.

If you recall, Teves was very critical and vocal on the Marcos administration and perhaps had in mind that the shackles of the law will never reach him since applying for political asylum in Timor-Leste.

This is the same mindset Harry Roque has when he arrogantly claims that he cannot be touched even by the Dutch police since he too has sought asylum perhaps hallucinating with a warped reality that people in the Philippines are after his neck.

Roque should start packing his bags and prepare for his return to “ghastly” Manila, as Claire Danes has once described our premier city.

Reminder: The first meeting of the 365 Club which will be held at the Holiday Inn Makati is moved to July. Reason for this is that the venue is still under rehabilitation. This will be a good time for a fresh venue to house an historic club founded in 1972 by the late Batangueño Teodoro ‘Ka Doroy’ Valencia.

Random Memorandum: Under our Constitution, an official can be impeached if 1/3 of the House of Representatives votes in favor of an impeachment. And since it requires only a simple majority to set the agenda or to adjourn the House, it can be difficult for a minority of 1/3 to bring a vote and impeach an official.

Factoid: Should the Senate continue the impeachment process in the event that an impeached official resigns midway even before a verdict is handed down?
