The Eastern Police District (EPD) announced on Friday that 8 of their officers were relieved of their post and placed under restrictive custody as they allegedly committed violations in the implementation of the arrest warrant of a Chinese individual.
The cops commenced an operation on April against the individual at a subdivision in Las Piñas City.
Las Piñas falls under the jurisdiction of the Southern Police District (SPD), and not under the EPD.
The violation allegedly was that the officers did not wear body cams when they implemented the arrest warrant and supposedly tried to extort P12 million from the Chinese individual for his freedom.
They also allegedly took money and some of the belongings of the individual, including a luxury watch from the Chinese.
Administrative and criminal cases are yet to be filed against the police officers.
