COTABATO CITY – The Philippine Army’s 6th Infantry Division (6ID) has distributed additional firearms, military vehicles, and logistical equipment to its subordinate units to strengthen operational readiness and security operations within its area of responsibility.
The distribution ceremony was held Thursday, October 29, 2026, at Camp Siongco in Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte, led by 6ID commander Brig. Gen. Edgar Catu.
In a report released Friday, Catu said the newly distributed equipment included 19 K3 and M60 machine guns allocated to the 57th, 6th, 40th, and 2nd Mechanized Infantry Battalions.
The additional firearms are intended to strengthen the combat capabilities of military units conducting security and peacekeeping operations in their assigned areas.
Aside from the weapons, the division also distributed mobility and logistical assets to improve troop movement and operational support.
The Service Support Battalion received two mobile kitchens, while the 1st Mechanized Brigade was provided with a KM250 truck.
The 37th and 57th Infantry Battalions also received KM450 trucks to support personnel transportation and logistical requirements during military operations.
Meanwhile, 26 newly assigned Army second lieutenants serving in various units were issued 9mm pistols as part of the equipment distribution.
Catu emphasized that providing additional weapons and logistical resources is essential to maintaining the readiness and effectiveness of military personnel.
“The distribution of additional equipment was an important step in maintaining troop readiness and ensuring efficient military operations throughout its area of responsibility,” Catu said.
The initiative forms part of the division’s continuing efforts to improve operational capabilities and ensure that Army units have the necessary resources to carry out their security responsibilities.
