Around 5,000 overseas Filipinos have registered for the Online Voting and Counting System (OVCS) ahead of the May 12 midterm elections. The enrollment period, which began on March 20, will continue until May 7.
Comelec Chairperson George Erwin Garcia expressed optimism that more Filipinos abroad will sign up in the coming weeks, noting that the enrollment process has been quick and easy. He also encouraged those already registered to familiarize themselves with the system to ensure a smooth voting experience.
“At least, come the voting period, the internet voting system will no longer be foreign to them,” Garcia said.
Overseas voting will run from April 13 to May 12, allowing Filipinos abroad to vote exclusively for 12 senators and one party-list group. Those interested in internet voting can enroll at https://ov.comelec.gov.ph/enroll.
