A 40-year-old man was arrested after authorities seized more than ₱300,000 worth of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in Taguig City.
The arrest took place during a sting operation carried out by the Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) of the Taguig City Police Station around 10 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, along General Luna Street in Barangay Ususan, Taguig City.
According to Police Captain Jowel Golimlim, assistant chief of the Public Information Office of Taguig City Police, the suspect was already listed on the city’s drug watchlist.
“A confidential informant reported the suspect’s involvement in drug selling. Our team then conducted surveillance, and we were able to confirm that the suspect was indeed engaged in illegal drug activities,” said PCapt. Golimlim.
Seized from the suspect were five plastic sachets and one tied plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, one ₱1,000 bill used as marked money in the operation, four ₱1,000 bills used as “boodle” money, and a coin purse.
Golimlim also confirmed that the suspect had a previous drug-related case back in 2018.
The suspect reportedly admitted ownership of the confiscated items.
“He confessed that he was selling drugs to sustain his daily needs and to support his own drug use,” Golimlim added.
The suspect is now detained at the custodial facility of the Taguig City Police and is facing charges for violating Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
PCapt. Golimlim reminded the public that selling illegal drugs is strictly prohibited by law and carries heavy penalties.
“We will arrest anyone caught selling illegal drugs. These substances are especially harmful to our youth. If you know anyone involved in drug dealing or any illegal activity, please report them immediately to your local police station,” he urged.
