CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Police Regional Office in Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) has placed its entire force under heightened alert and deployed 4,688 officers ahead of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday.
In a statement on Friday, PRO-10 Director Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano said officers will be strategically deployed in key areas throughout the region to secure vital installations, transportation hubs, places of convergence, major thoroughfares and other critical locations.
“While the PNP (Philippine National Police) remains steadfast in upholding every citizen’s right to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly, we call on the participants to exercise these rights responsibly and within the bounds of the law,” he said.
PRO-10 also activated its Civil Disturbance Management Contingent and placed the Regional Standby Support Force and Quick Reaction Teams on heightened readiness to respond to potential security incidents.
Quick reaction teams, medical units, and drone operators have been prepared to monitor the entire region.
Police commanders were directed to intensify visibility, conduct sustained intelligence monitoring, and coordinate closely with force multipliers and partner agencies.
They were tasked to implement appropriate security and public safety measures, while upholding the constitutional right of every Filipino to peaceful assembly and the lawful exercise of freedom of expression.
PRO-10 urged the public to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activities through the unified 911 emergency hotline.
Nationwide, the PNP has deployed over 21,000 law enforcers for SONA security, with the National Capital Region Police Office placed under full alert status starting at 5 p.m.
The PNP has not monitored any serious security threats ahead of the address, according to Public Information Chief Col. Allen Rae Co. (PNA)
