19 rescued after Motorbanca capsizes in Davao City

Nineteen individuals were safely rescued after their motorbanca capsized in the waters off Panacan, Ilang, Davao City on Saturday, the Philippine Coast Guard District Southeastern Mindanao reported.

The vessel reportedly suffered engine trouble and was overwhelmed by strong currents and large waves near DBCOM, Ilang.

Responding units from Coast Guard Sub-Stations Ilang and Lasang, along with the BRP Malamawi, launched a search and rescue operation at 11:05 a.m.

All passengers were brought to the DPWH Panacan Wharf for medical assistance.

Authorities are currently investigating the incident to improve maritime safety measures, the Coast Guard said.
