MALASIQUI, Pangasinan – About 13,000 farmers in the Ilocos Region are expected to receive fuel subsidies from the Department of Agriculture (DA) under the Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport (UPLIFT) Program.

DA project evaluation officer Milagros Dela Rosa said during a forum on Tuesday that each qualified farmer would receive PHP5,000 directly through their e-wallets.

“So, hopefully, we will be able to download by the end of the quarter the fuel assistance funded under the UPLIFT,” she said.

The assistance forms part of the PHP6.2-billion UPLIFT fund allocated nationwide.

According to the Presidential Communications Office, the funding is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to safeguard agricultural and fishery production and support farmers and fisherfolk as El Niño conditions develop.

UPLIFT is a national program established through Executive Order 110 by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in response to global energy crises and economic challenges. It aims to strengthen food security and agricultural resilience.

Dela Rosa said the DA had previously assisted farmers through the Presidential Assistance for Farmers and Fisherfolk (PAFF).

“The distribution in the first batch of PAFF beneficiaries has been completed, and there are still beneficiaries who have not yet claimed,”
