Authorities retrieved another body from the collapsed structure in Barangay Balibago, Angeles City, Pampanga early Monday, raising the death toll in the incident to 12.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Central Luzon said the victim was pulled out at around 4:12 a.m. on June 1 after being initially located late Sunday night.
Rescue teams said extraction took several hours due to heavy debris and limited access inside the collapse site.
Responders used pry bars, jackhammers, sledgehammers, and cutting tools to break through concrete and steel reinforcements blocking the victim’s location.
The BFP said the equipment allowed them to safely reach the casualty despite unstable conditions in the area.
Health personnel from the Angeles City Health Office were also deployed and carried out disinfection measures to support ongoing operations.
Search and retrieval efforts continued as authorities worked to account for remaining individuals still missing in the collapsed structure.
Officials said 27 of the 47 affected persons had been rescued, while eight others remained unaccounted for as operations persisted at the site.
