10 cops linked to P6.7-B drug haul arrested

Ten of the 29 active and former police officers with arrest warrants tied to the controversial P6.7 billion drug bust in Manila in 2022 are now in custody, the Philippine National Police (PNP) confirmed on Thursday.

According to PNP spokesperson, Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo, the individuals—who either surrendered or were arrested—include a range of ranks, such as four patrolmen, a police lieutenant colonel, a police major, a police captain, a police lieutenant, a police executive master sergeant, and a police senior master sergeant.

Despite the arrests, 19 officers remain at large, with the PNP continuing efforts to track them down.

The high-profile case has prompted Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla to announce a nationwide investigation into police involvement in drug operations dating back to 2016. This comes after criminal charges were filed against 30 officers connected to the 2022 Manila drug raid.
