Good news for PhilHealth members: starting August 21, 2025, you can now avail of up to P20,000 worth of outpatient medicines every year under the expanded PhilHealth Guaranteed and Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment (PhilHealth GAMOT) program.

This enhanced drug benefit, launched through PhilHealth Circular No. 2025-0013, is part of the PhilHealth YAKAP Program introduced by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in his recent State of the Nation Address—underscoring his administration’s commitment to building a healthier, more inclusive Philippines.

Under PhilHealth GAMOT, members gain access to 75 essential medicines used to treat common and chronic conditions such as infections, asthma and COPD, diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, heart ailments, and nervous system disorders. Supportive therapies are also included—all at no cost beyond the P20,000 annual cap per beneficiary.

How to avail PhilHealth GAMOT:

  1. Register with your chosen PhilHealth YAKAP Clinic.
  2. Undergo a medical assessment with your primary care doctor.
  3. Receive a prescription with a Unique Prescription Security Code (UPSC).
  4. Present the prescription along with a valid government-issued ID at any accredited GAMOT Facility.

PhilHealth is also working to expand its network, with 24 more facilities in NCR already expressing interest in joining the program.

PhilHealth President and CEO Dr. Edwin M. Mercado emphasized that the expansion of PhilHealth GAMOT ensures better health access for all Filipinos:

“In 2023, we launched PhilHealth GAMOT but only in select provinces. Now, we’re rolling it out nationwide. Every Filipino deserves access to the medicines they need without carrying the heavy burden of out-of-pocket expenses,” Dr. Mercado said.
