President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. left the Philippines on Sunday morning for a work visit to the United States.
The President departed at 10:22 a.m. and is scheduled to return on Wednesday, March 11.
Department of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Angelica Escalona said the trip will include high-level engagements at the United Nations in New York.
“Marcos will urge parties involved in the Middle East conflict to return to the negotiating table,” Escalona said.
The President is expected to provide a regional perspective, emphasizing restraint, respect for international law, and adherence to the UN Charter amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
Escalona added that Marcos will meet with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the sidelines of his visit.
He will also take part in the opening of the 70th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women.
The visit highlights the Philippines’ commitment to international diplomacy and global engagement on issues of peace and gender equality.
