Estrada to pursue injunction after court denies TRO

Sen. Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada said he will continue pursuing his application for a writ of preliminary injunction before the San Juan Regional Trial Court (RTC) after it denied his request for a temporary restraining order (TRO) against former Bulacan assistant engineer Brice Hernandez.

In a statement, Estrada’s office clarified that the court’s recent resolution only denied the TRO, while his injunction plea remains pending and will be heard on November 12. Both parties will be allowed to present their arguments and evidence during the hearing.

The San Juan RTC also reminded both sides that the sub judice rule applies, prohibiting public statements or media comments that may influence the court or prejudice the case.

Estrada said he will fully comply with the court’s directive.

The injunction case stems from Hernandez’s testimony before the House Committee on Public Works, where he alleged that Estrada received a “30-percent SOP” from flood control projects — accusations the senator has consistently denied.
