China warned Sunday against efforts to remove Iran’s leadership as fighting in the Middle East intensifies following attacks by the United States and Israel.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi said attempts to push for political change in Iran would not gain public backing. Plotting a color revolution or seeking regime change would not receive support from the people, he said during a news conference in Beijing held alongside a major annual political gathering, according to state media.

Wang also called for respect for the sovereignty of Iran and other countries and urged an immediate halt to military operations in the region to prevent the conflict from expanding.

The Chinese official said the war should not have happened and would not benefit any party involved. He added that force does not offer a solution and that armed confrontation would only deepen resentment and create further crises.

He said countries in the Middle East should determine their own affairs without outside interference, noting that the people of the region are the true decision makers over their future.

Wang urged all parties to return to negotiations as soon as possible and resolve their differences through dialogue in pursuit of shared security. He added that China is willing to work with regional countries to restore stability and peace.

He also addressed the Palestinian issue, saying a two-state solution remains the most widely accepted path toward a fair settlement. China, he said, will continue supporting the Palestinian people in pursuing their legitimate national rights and will back international efforts to restore justice.

Wang also commented on China’s ties with other major countries, saying relations with Russia remain stable, while cooperation with India should be strengthened for regional development. He added that Taiwan remains a core issue in China’s foreign policy and warned that no force would be allowed to separate the island from China.
