Israeli air raids across Beirut and several areas in southern Lebanon left at least 49 people dead on Sunday, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry and local media reports.
One of the deadliest strikes hit a three story residential structure in Seir el-Gharbiya in Nabatieh province, where 19 people were killed. Authorities said most of the victims were women and children.
Additional attacks were reported in several southern towns. Four people were killed in Qana in Tyre, while two others died in a strike in Ghazieh in Sidon, the ministry said.
Earlier in the day, eight fatalities were recorded in Tefahta after an Israeli strike hit the town. Five members of the same family were among those killed, according to the Health Ministry.
Rescue teams continued to clear debris and search for possible survivors in affected areas. In Jbal El-Botm in Tyre, another airstrike killed three people and wounded four others.
In Beirut, a missile struck a hotel room in the Raouche district, killing four people and injuring 10 others, authorities said.
Other strikes targeted residential areas in the south. Local reports said three people died after a house in Aaitat was hit, while six members of one family were killed when a separate attack struck the town of Dweir, destroying a home and a nearby car repair hangar.
The latest attacks followed a deadly wave of airstrikes the previous day that killed at least 55 people across eastern and southern Lebanon. The escalation came as regional tensions intensified after the United States and Israel launched a joint assault on Iran, prompting retaliatory drone and missile strikes and renewed cross border fighting between Israel and Hezbollah.
