War aid to make 'US richer, Ukraine poorer, says' Kremlin

MOSCOW –  The decision of the U.S. House of Representatives to provide military aid to Ukraine will make the United States richer and further ruin Ukraine, Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Saturday.

"The decision to provide assistance to Ukraine was expected and was predictable. This will further enrich the United States of America and further ruin Ukraine, causing more Ukrainians to die," Peskov was quoted by Russia's TASS news agency as saying.

The US House of Representatives on Saturday approved a series of foreign aid bills allocating a combined 95 billion U.S. dollars for Ukraine, Israel and allies in the Indo-Pacific. The bills also included measures for confiscating frozen Russian assets to fund Ukraine.

"If we are really talking about confiscating our assets, this will cause irreparable damage to the image of the United States of America. This will force many investors in this country to protect their funds because the inviolability of private property will be violated, especially state property," Peskov said.

Also Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said the US military aid for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan will aggravate the global crises, said.

"The military aid earmarked by the United States for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan will exacerbate the global crises, as the military aid to the Kiev regime is direct financial support of terrorist activity, [the aid] to Taiwan is an interference in China’s domestic affairs and to Israel is a direct path to the unprecedented escalation in the region," she wrote on her Telegram channel.

The $95 billion package of bills on military aid for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, on the seizure of the frozen Russian sovereign assets in order to give them to Kiev, and on additional sanctions against China passed the US House of Representatives on Saturday. In particular, the package includes $60 billion for Kiev and $26 billion for Israel and humanitarian aid for civilians in the conflict zones, including the Gaza Strip.                     Xinhua and TASS
