PSA warns vs. 'ayuda,' national ID scams

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) warns the public against pages spreading fake news on social media, with posts falsely claiming the following:

  • There is ayuda or cash assistance for National ID holders; and

  • National ID processing can be facilitated online in exchange for a fee.

The PSA reiterates that it does not distribute any cash assistance to registered persons or holders of the National ID, whether in card, paper, or digital format.

Further, only the PSA, as the sole authority, is authorized to register individuals to the National ID system free of charge. This process involves capturing biometric information such as iris and fingerprint scanning, which requires a personal appearance before authorized registration personnel from the PSA and cannot be done online.

In addition, individuals or groups offering such activities are not authorized by PSA or related to it.

We urge the public to be cautious and refrain from sharing false information about the National ID being posted on various social media sites, as it can lead to confusion and potential harm.

For accurate and reliable information on the National ID, the public can refer to any of the following official channels:

  1. National ID website via https://philsys.gov.ph/;

  2. Facebook at PSAPhilSysOfficial;

  3. X (formerly Twitter) at @PSAPhilSys; and

  4. Viber at PSA: Philippine Identification System.
