PSA warns public vs. individuals offering cash for national ID

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reiterated its warning to the public on Friday about unauthorized individuals offering cash to registered persons in exchange for their National IDs.

The PSA received reports of individuals directly approaching registered persons and taking photographs of their National ID in exchange for cash.

"The PSA reminds the public to avoid sharing their National ID unnecessarily and present it only to authorized personnel. Your vigilance is crucial in preventing identity theft and fraud. Stay informed and protect your personal information," the PSA said.

Further, being registered or receiving the National ID does not make an individual eligible to receive cash benefits from the government and other social protection programs. Such benefits are granted based on the rules and regulations of the concerned agency.

For any information related to such activities, we encourage the public to report to the official channels of PhilSys: (1) PhilSys hotline 1388; (2) email at info@philsys.gov.ph; and (3) Facebook at facebook.com/PSAPhilSysOfficial.
