ILOILO CITY – The Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO6) will send 100 personnel from two of its police offices to augment the civil disturbance management force in the ongoing police operations to capture fugitive Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Apollo Quiboloy in Davao City.
PRO6 spokesperson Lt. Col. Arnel Solis said 50 personnel would come from the Iloilo City Police Office and another 50 from the Iloilo Police Provincial Office.
“We have a directive to prepare 100 personnel. The order came from the national headquarters, and they are just waiting for deployment to Police Regional Office 11 (PRO 11),” said Solis in a media interview on Tuesday.
On Monday, the PRO6 issued a statement supporting the law enforcement operations being conducted by PRO11.
“It is the sworn duty and obligation of the Philippine National Police to enforce the law and to implement lawful orders and decrees by competent judicial and duly constituted authorities. This task transcends beyond personal interests, political affiliations, religious beliefs, and ideological biases,” the statement said.
It added that the operation is consistent with the mandate of the PNP to serve and protect the people by upholding the constitutional principles of equal protection of rights under the law.
“In solidarity with the peace-loving and law-abiding citizens of Western Visayas, the Police Regional Office VI asks the people of Davao to pray for peace, for justice, and the rule of law,” it added.
Meanwhile, in a press conference, Mayor Jerry P. Treñas said the warrants of arrest issued against Quiboloy should be implemented.
“Follow the law,” he said.
He also refused to comment on the statement of former President Rodrigo Duterte and Vice President Sara Duterte criticizing the police operations, saying that to a certain extent, he feels “that they are irrelevant.” (PNA)
