MMDA identifies 'fake' enforcer in viral post

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced on Thursday that a man accused of pretending to be an MMDA traffic enforcer and extorting money from a motorist violating traffic laws was identified with the help of a tip from a concerned netizen.

In a Facebook post, the MMDA is urging anyone victimized by the alleged fake constable to contact the agency and invites them to file an affidavit of complaint to strengthen the case against him for his misconduct.

MMDA acting Chairman Don Artes announced that a reward of P10,000 would be given to the netizen who provided the name and address of the fake traffic enforcer.

In a viral post from the Visor Facebook page details motorists' encounter with an alleged fake MMDA constable at Arnaiz corner Osmeña Highway in Makati City.

In the said counter, the individual allegedly stopped their vehicle under the guise of enforcement, falsely accusing them of running a red light and demanding a P2,000 fine.

Meanwhile, the MMDA said the collection and exchange of recyclables continue through the Mobile Materials Recovery Facility's (MMRF) "Recyclables Mo, Palit Grocery Ko" project.

During the recent Bayanihan sa Barangay in Tañong, Malabon, 548 kilograms of recyclables were collected, with grocery items worth P2,030 exchanged in return.   The MMRF and Recyclables Mo, Palit Grocery Ko initiatives are part of the Metro Manila Flood Management Project aimed at reducing flooding in Metro Manila.
