Meralco opens CSP for 2025 1,000 MW supply requirements

The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) is asking generating companies (gencos) to bid for 1,000 MW of supply requirements beginning next year.

The announcement came following the Taguig Regional Trial Court's decision to dismiss the petition for an injunction on the competitive selection process (CSP) and render its earlier issued Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) without force and effect.

"We urge prospective bidders to submit their best offers for Meralco's 600 MW and 400 MW supply requirements for next year. We look forward to receiving competitive offers to help us fulfill our mandate of providing reliable and least-cost electricity to our customers," Meralco Bids and Awards Committee for Power Supply Agreements chairman Lawrence S. Fernandez said.

"We would also like to reiterate that the CSPs are being conducted in compliance with the rules and guidelines set by the Department of Energy and the Energy Regulatory Commission. We remain dedicated to conducting this process with utmost transparency and fairness," he added.

The Bids and Awards Committee scheduled the Bid Submission Deadline for its 600-MW requirement on August 27. For the 400-MW requirement, the Pre-Bid Conference is on August 29 and the Bid Submission Deadline is set on October 1.

Both requirements are due for delivery starting August 2025.

The schedule adjustment also ensures that all participants have ample time to prepare their submissions.
