The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has emerged as the Philippine winner of the Asia IoT Business Platform (AIBP) ASEAN Enterprise Innovation Awards for its Certified by Meralco (CBM) Platform, its customer-centric digital innovation that provides end-to-end solutions for the distribution utility's close to eight million customers.
Besting five other finalists under the open category for the Philippines, Meralco's winning entry, "Certified by Meralco (CBM) Platform: Uberization of the Meralco Service Application Experience," showcased the power distributor's workflow and standards-based solution, touted as the first of its kind in the Philippine electric utility industry.
"With Meralco's drive for customer centricity and digital transformation, we continue to innovate by providing solutions such as the CBM platform. Our customers appreciate the convenience of a faster and more streamlined digital application process, cost transparency, and the assurance of reliable, high-quality service from certified service providers," Meralco senior vice president and chief revenue officer Ferdinand O. Geluz said.
"Moreover, we achieved groundbreaking results not just for our customers but for our contractors and frontliners," he added.
Launched in 2022, the CBM platform is a centralized digital hub that streamlines the electricity service application process—from submitting requirements to construction and permit acquisition. The platform also provides customers with ratings of certified contractors, assuring them of high-quality service.
Among the key benefits of the innovative solution is faster service application transactions as Meralco contractors realized improved efficiency, gained access to capability-building opportunities, and optimized their operations.

Meanwhile, Meralco was also a finalist in the Data and AI category for the Philippines for its customer-centric and data-driven digital transformation through the Meralco Data Platform (MDP).
The MDP centralizes data across its operations, including billing systems and online channels, enabling more accurate analytics, streamlined data-driven processes, and integrated business operations.
Of 113 submissions from Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand & Vietnam, 56 innovative projects were shortlisted as finalists.
Established in 2017, the AIBP ASEAN Enterprise Innovation Award recognizes organizations that have embarked on projects to transform their business through the digital adoption of innovative technology.
With a current network of over 30,000 stakeholders in Southeast Asia, the AIBP serves as an avenue for public and private organizations in Southeast Asia to access and exchange information about growth and innovation within the B2B space.#
